Avondale Square Housing Estate

The Avondale Square estate has 660 homes and a sheltered housing unit in Harman close. It is the largest City of London Corporation housing estates. The Corporation of London housing first started to development housing on the site in 1920 and continued to build developments into the 1950’s. The estate was opened by the Lord Mayor of London on 26 October 1962.

Along with the three high-rise blocks, several low-rise blocks and sheltered housing,  there is also a church with parish hall and some small shop units as part of the estate. The area of land the estates resides on used to be called Twelve Acres .
